Fit for the Fireworks Fuel: GREEN BEANS

In season – Now through August

What to look for when buying – Beans should be bright in color and not show much browning. They should be firm and crisp.

Flavor – Fresh green beans taste bright, just like you’d think spring or summer would taste if you could taste them. Mild sweetness with a hint of earthiness.

Storage – Keep them unwashed, in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator. Rinse them just before cooking/eating. They should keep this way for about 7 days.

Nutrition – A good source of fiber and a good source of vitamin C! A naturally, low-calorie and low-sodium food too!
